Course Description: Services Marketing will explore the marketing of services, including professional services, product services and the range of other services associated with a post-industrial economy. Services account for a growing number of jobs, a substantial portion of the GNP and a major portion of US exports. Firms in the Washington, DC, and northern Virginia area are heavily involved in services. The course will cover marketing aspects of design and delivery of services, and service recovery as appropriate. Readings will include a basic text in services marketing and supplemental articles and cases. The course will be conducted as a seminar and class participation will be essential as topics are developed in class. In common with other Special Topics courses, Services Marketing will conclude with an in-depth paper and oral presentation.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of MKTG 301.
