Position: Advancement and Alumni Relations Intern – School of Business – Advancement & Alumni Relations

Hours: 8+ Hours per week. Evening and weekend hours may be required. We will accommodate student’s schedules as best as possible. Weekly schedule may vary depending upon requirements of the position/event, etc…

Compensation: $10 per hour

Duration: One semester (e.g. August through December, January through May, June through August)

Job Description: The Advancement and Alumni Relations Intern will work directly with the School of Business Advancement Associate to plan, execute and evaluate the School of Business’s Advancement & Alumni Relations activities. The Advancement and Alumni Relations Intern will be expected to complete a wide range of activities requiring clear, effective communication, critical thinking, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. He/She must be able to work well under pressure, make well-informed decisions, and execute a smooth and efficient event.  The candidate must be comfortable working independently, while maintaining communication with the Advancement & Alumni Relations team.  Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, fundraising activities, correspondence with event sponsors, vendors, and staff. This position will directly report to the School of Business’s Advancement Associate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and management of Advancement & Alumni Relations events for the School of Business
  • Coordinate day-of activities with event staff
  • Helping draft an event budget
  • Working with a team to obtain proper permits or contracts
  • Working with a team to coordinate staffing and volunteer requirements
  • Prepare logistic documents for all vendors
  • Day of event management
  • Post event evaluation
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Education and/or Experience: Must be pursuing a degree (or certificate) in Event Management, Marketing, or Management from George Mason University.
