Important Dates and Deadlines for Fall 2018

Welcome Back! Here are some important things to remember as you prepare for the summer semester!

Important Dates

Dates listed on this page are for full semester courses only. For add/drop deadlines for courses that meet less than a full semester, see Non-standard Sections Dates.

Consortium Registration Deadline TBD
First day of classes; last day to submit Domicile Reclassification Application; Payment Due Date August 27
Labor Day, university closed September 3

Last day to add classes—all individualized section forms due

September 4

Final Drop Deadline

This will not show up on your transcript at all. A full tuition refund will be issued until September 10th, but no tuition refund will be issued starting September 11th.

September 17

Student Self-Withdrawal (100% tuition liability)

You are able to self-withdrawal classes during this period on your own each semester, although it will show on your transcript as a “W” and will count toward attempted hours.

September 18 – September 30
Midterm progress reporting period (100-200 level classes)—grades available via Patriot Web September 24 –
October 19

Selective Withdrawal Period (undergraduate students only) (100% tuition liability)

You may process a maximum of three such selective withdrawals during your entire undergraduate career at Mason. You will not be able to do this on your own as there is a form on the Registrar’s website.

Incomplete work from spring/summer 2018 due to instructor October 26
Incomplete grade changes from spring/summer 2018 due to Registrar November 2

Dissertation/Thesis Deadline December 7
Last day of classes December 8
Reading Days
Reading days provide students with additional study time for final examinations. Faculty may schedule optional study sessions, but regular classes or exams may not be held.
