Virginia Board of Accountancy holds board meeting on George Mason’s campus Nov. 7, 2018

The Virginia Board of Accountancy will hold their regulatory board meeting in JC Dewberry Hall on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.

Mason students, faculty and staff are invited and encouraged to attend the public meeting and have the opportunity to learn more about how the VBOA conducts business related to the accounting profession and CPA industry in Virginia. The public meeting begins at 10 a.m. and runs throughout the day. An agenda for the board meeting can be found on the board’s website at at least three days prior to the board meeting.

Special guest speaker Dr. Bill Hawk is a professor of philosophy and chair, Ethical Reasoning in Action: The Madison Collaborative, at James Madison University. He will speak at 11 a.m. about fostering an ethical cultural and how it applies to the accounting industry.

The VBOA regulates certified public accountants in Virginia through a program of examination, licensure (individuals and firms), consumer protection (enforcement), continuing professional education audits and peer review oversight. Learn more about the VBOA by visiting
