About Us

The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) is an interdisciplinary hub in the School of Business that supports innovators and changemakers from all Mason schools and programs. From innovative courses and clubs to startup trips and competitions, CIE offers participants opportunities to explore and learn about creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, experiment with concepts and tools, and startup a venture or initiative.

The Patriot Pollinator Coalition is the first startup of the student venture program at George Mason University. We give students the opportunity to be a part of an actual entrepreneurial venture, experience the difficulties of growing a business, and work on a highly motivated and effective team to accomplish goals.

Patriot Pollinator Coalition Summer 2019 Internships

As an intern at the Patriot Pollinator Coalition, you will learn and acquire highly marketable skills that pertain to every aspect of business operation. At PPC, it is learning by doing and experiencing. Our interns are essential for the operations and growth of our business. Every task you will work on with our team will be beneficial for your own professional development.

Entrepreneurship is a key part in our business. All of our products are theorized and developed by our student interns. We encourage innovation by allowing our interns to research and introduce new ideas that will benefit the business, ranging from new products, to new ways of conducting business operations.

  • Must be currently enrolled in George Mason University.
  • Able to work 7 – 15 hours per week.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Proficient in managing Google Drive
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work cohesively with other team members
  • Students of all majors are encouraged to apply

The internship will be holding two positions per department. There may be exceptions.

The Product Development Interns

Patriot Pollinator Coalition is looking for a career driven individual that has the ability to learn quickly and think in their feet. The product development intern is responsible for analyzing and determining the feasibility of new products or making changes to existing products

  • Review published research reports to identify gaps in the market that products could meet
  • Analyze our own products’ feasibility
  • Identify and monitor sources of information on target markets
  • Monitor social networks and product review sites that provides information on customers’ attitudes towards competitors and their products
  • Highlight features that achieve high ratings on product review sites or social networks to help identify priorities for product management
  • Analyze new projects to determine feasibility of project from a revenue standpoint
  • Understand our products and business to convey them to customers who may be willing to buy
  • Must have strong data analytic skills
  • Must have an eye for a design to be able to propose new ideas related to our business model
  • Perform other office duties as needed

The Finance and Accounting Interns

Patriot Pollinator Coalition is looking for a career driven individual that has the ability to learn quick and think in their feet. The Finance and accounting intern are responsible for recording and analyzing the financial data in order to propose ideas of how to maximize profits.

  • Assist with process improvements related to use of various software platforms
  • Create and/or improve current modes of data recording using various dynamic Excel spreadsheets
  • Write and present data reports with statistical evidence showing ways to maximize profits
  • Recording inventory
  • Collaborate with other interns regarding ideas in the Finance and Accounting department
  • Understand our products and business to convey them to customers who may be willing to buy
  • Must have strong data analytics skills
  • Must have strong mathematical and finance skills
  • Perform other office duties as needed

Sales Interns

Patriot Pollinator Coalition is looking for a career driven individual that has the ability to learn quickly and think in their feet. This is a sales internship position for the Patriot Pollinator Coalition. You would be in charge of selling our various products and be responsible for reaching weekly sales goals. The internship position for the sales department will be selling both indoor and outdoor around the George Mason University Fairfax Campus. Besides on-campus sales, we will have special days selling outside of campus to offer a complete experience for the intern. You will provide effective solutions to assist their needs and concerns. You will work on customer acquisition and retention.

  • Build rapport with customers to make successful sales
  • Prepare seasonal packages to sale
  • Present, promote and sell products/services using solid arguments to existing and prospective customers
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationship
  • Identify and establish realistic goals to achieve per week
  • Negotiate with vendors
  • Provide solutions for customers
  • Perform cost-benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential customers to meet their needs
  • Lead a sales team
  • Keep a record of sales
  • Analyze the territory/market’s potential, track sales and status reports
  • Perform other office duties as needed

Communications & Marketing Intern

Patriot Pollinator Coalition is looking for a career driven individual that has the ability to learn quickly and think in their feet. The marketing intern will be in charge of raising awareness of our products on and off campus through different channels.

  • Assist with social media planning and execution
  • Help branding and branching outside of campus
  • Draft social media posts
  • Keep track of responding with our customers through our social media and email
  • Design flyers
  • Assist updating the website
  • Help prepare seasonal events, and special sales.
  • Create impactful content for our newsletter
  • Analyze and conduct marketing research
  • Perform other office duties as needed

Human Resources Intern

Patriot Pollinator Coalition is looking for a career driven individual that has the ability to learn quickly and think in their feet. The human resources intern will be responsible for recruiting, interviewing and training other interns. The candidate will ensure that the interns are meeting requirements to ensure a great internship experience.

  • Creates scheduling arrangements and edits as needed
  • Develops relationship with interns and volunteers
  • Plans strategies to recruit new interns for the following semester
  • Assist in review of potential candidate resumes, profiles
  • Seek retention of interns
  • Track interns’ hours
  • Coordinate interviews with future interns and volunteers
  • Prioritize activities for the best interest of the team when working on multiple projects
  • Perform other office duties as needed
