About the Position:

Van Metre is seeking a part-time Junior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting Team! You will work directly within the Corporate Accounting team, as well as with Investment Properties Accounting and New Homes Accounting staff to assist with our day to day procedures and gain fundamental accounting and finance experience.   • Prepare journal entries
  • Prepare various general ledger account reconciliations
  • Prepare credit card reconciliations and coding
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Prepare various monthly and quarterly schedules
  • Process accounts payable
  • Assist with processing of accounts receivable/cash receipts
  • Special projects as needed


  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or related field
  • Completion of intermediate accounting course preferred
  • Recommendation letter from past or current Business School faculty member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Motivated individual with a lot of energy and a positive attitude
  • Experience with using Microsoft Excel & other Office applications
  • Excellent organizational skills; must be detail-oriented
  • An individual with the desire to continuously learn
  • Commitment of approximately 20 hours per week (very flexible schedule) – $15/hour
