Erkin Olmez is a PhD student at the Department of Information Technology and Engineering and an adjunct faculty member at the School of Business at George Mason University. Olmez has a BS in industrial engineering and MS in information systems from METU.

Olmez joined George Mason University in 2002 after serving at Atilim University as an instructor for two years. He taught courses on Organization Theory and Management Information Systems before joining the School of Business as an adjunct faculty. As a distinguished researcher, he was given a "thesis of the year" award by Mustafa Parlar Foundation in 2001.

Olmez's current area of research revolves around understanding the effect of cultural factors on command and control architectures. He has worked with a diverse group of research sites including the military, government, health care sector, and software and manufacturing companies on numerous projects.
