Dan Thoman graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. He attended Lock Haven as a four-year Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Cadet scholarship winner, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army upon graduation. Mr. Thoman was selected from among his peers at the basic course to attend Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD), graduating from this training as a certified military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician in 2007. He was then assigned duty as an EOD Platoon Leader and Company Operations Officer with the 722d Ordnance Company (EOD). He served in this capacity for three years, included one 12-month combat deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in 2008.
Mr. Thoman separated from military service in 2010 and began working as a defense contractor that same year. In his six years in the defense industry, he has held various positions in program management and business operations, most recently being employed as a Basis of Estimate Project Manager for PAE, headquartered in Arlington, VA. Throughout his civilian employment he has earned his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, as well as an MBA from Frostburg State University. He is currently in the final phases of completing his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree from George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, concentrating his studies in the management field.
