Profile:

Disu is currently the Executive Director for Global Strategy at George Mason University and since joining Mason in 2013 has also held the position of Chief Operating Officer for George Mason University’s Korea campus and Special Assistant to the President.

Prior to Mason, Disu was Special Assistant to the President at Thunderbird School of Global Management, the world’s top-ranked school of international business. At Thunderbird, Disu was responsible for managing global strategic initiatives for the Office of the President including playing a key role in managing three presidential transitions for the board of trustees, increasing alumni engagement, increasing student enrollment, successfully completing the institution’s largest capital campaign and developing corporate partnerships for career services.  

Before transitioning to a career in Global Higher Education, Disu worked as Ass. Vice President for Strategic Cost Initiative at Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC). In this role, Disu leveraged her skills as a Six Sigma Black Belt to optimize banking operations and identify cost savings which was critical to the organization as it tried to navigate the complexities of the subprime mortgage crisis. Disu also worked at Chevron Corporation in their Global Management Associate program as well as at the Arizona State Legislature.

A global enthusiast, she is multi-lingual and has lived, worked and travelled to over 70 countries. Her eclectic background has also included opportunities to organize thought leadership symposiums for notable global leaders such as His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Justice Sandra Day O’ Connor, President Alvaro Uribe, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, President Mikhail Gorbachev, Ambassador Barbara Barrett, members of Congress and the World Economic Forum.

A passionate supporter of global prosperity, she has participated in programs that help improve the plight of women and children globally such as Project Artemis, Goldman Sachs 10,000 women initiative and MBA Women International. She also founded the award winning philanthropy program called ThunderCares and sits on several non-profit boards.
