Kenneth H. Heller

Kenneth Heller joined George Mason University as department chair of accounting in 1987 and served in that capacity until 1995. His teaching and research interests were in federal and state taxation. Heller published articles in many professional journals, including The Accounting Review, The Journal of Taxation, The Tax Adviser, Journal of Partnership Taxation, and Taxation for Accountants.

An active member of many professional groups, he served on the American Institute of CPAs Tax Executive Committee. He also served as president of the American Taxation Association, chair of the American Institute of CPAs Partnership Taxation Committee, and as a member of the Virginia Board of Accountancy, Board of Directors of the Northern Chapter of the Virginia Society of CPAs, and the AACSB Peer Review Team for Accreditation of Accounting Programs.

Heller also served as an educational consultant for several CPA firms. Prior to joining George Mason University, he held positions as a professor of accounting at the University of Georgia and as a tax professional at Arthur Andersen, LLP and Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young, LLP).

He received his BS and MS in accounting from the University of Florida and his PhD in business from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a licensed CPA in Virginia.
