Mitch Schoenberg is an Adjunct Professor in the Accounting department of the School of Business. He has extensive expatriate work experience with prior postings in Japan, Taipei, Thailand, China, Luxembourg and the U.K. and strives to bring that international experience into his classrooms.
He is an actively licensed CPA (Virginia) and maintains Audit and IT professional certifications including CFE, CGFM, CIA, CISA and MCP. He is a sought out speaker on Internal Controls at Bank regulatory and Military Comptroller conferences.
Schoenberg leads the Internal Controls office of the U.S. Coast Guard (Department of Homeland Security) and has held prior positions with a Federal Bank regulator, as Chief Auditor for a $22bn Credit Union, Regional Director - Audit and Assurance with a big 4 Public Accounting firm and as Director of IT and Banking Operations for a Fortune 100 multinational financial services company.
He volunteers with the American Red Cross (National Capital Region) and Fairfax County, VA / ARES, specializing in disaster response and radio telecommunications and is an FCC licensed amateur radio operator.
