Profile:

Shelly Canterbury is an instructor of finance with George Mason University's School of Business.

Since joining the Mason faculty in 2002, Canterbury has taught courses in core financial management, financial institutions management, and financial statement analysis and valuation. Her research interests are in analysis and valuation techniques for “for profit” companies, and integrating technology in finance instruction. Currently, she is the Minor in Business Coordinator, and a faculty advisor for Alpha Kappa Psi.

Canterbury came to George Mason University after a highly successful career in the private sector for over 25 years. She has previously operated her own consulting firm, and has held a range of financial, business development, information systems, and management positions for government- and commercially-focused industries. In her last industry position, she was executive vice president, chief financial officer, secretary and treasurer with Corbett Technologies, Inc., a fast growing, high-tech information security company located in Old Town Alexandria. In addition to her responsibilities for the infrastructure and financing of the company, she led the financial acquisition activities and due diligence during Corbett Technologies’ purchase by BAE Systems North America.

Canterbury earned a BS in business information systems from George Mason University and an MBA from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
