Profile:

Pallab Sanyal is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management at the School of Business, George Mason University. He received his PhD in Information and Decision Sciences from the Carlson School of Business at University of Minnesota.

His primary research interest lies in designing advanced electronic market mechanisms such as combinatorial auctions.  His research has been published in Management Science and the Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), and forthcoming in MIS Quarterly and other journals. He has presented his research at many international conferences, including ICIS, WISE, WITS and INFORMS-CIST.  At WITS, his papers were twice nominated for the best paper award.  In 2011, Sanyal's dissertation research won the Design Science Research Award from the INFORMS Information Systems Society. He also received the best reviewer award in 2011 from the Information Systems Society and Information Systems Research (ISR).

Sanyal teaches data analytics, networks and security, and databases at the MBA and undergraduate levels. He has received multiple teaching awards at University of Minnesota, and was nominated for the School of Business outstanding contributions to teaching award at George Mason.

Sanyal has worked as an information technology and management consultant for nine years in India, Singapore, the UK, and the US. His professional experience includes programming, systems design and implementation, project management, and business analytics. Sanyal is a member of the Association of Information Systems (AIS), and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).
