Profile:

Hun Lee is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management in the School of Business at George Mason University. Professor Lee's research focuses on competitive dynamics and internationalization, and appears in journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, and Journal of Management, where he received the best paper award. He also has co-authored a book, Strategy as Action: Competitive Dynamics and Competitive Advantage, from Oxford University Press.

Professor Lee teaches courses in competitive and international strategy and was voted EMBA Professor of the Year and MBA Outstanding Faculty. He was the founding Interim Director and Associate Director of the Center for Global Business, Innovation, and Transformation. He has lectured in various executive programs, for example, at the World Bank, Department of Commerce-International Trade Administration and Samsung Group in Seoul, Korea, and has been a visiting professor at Yonsei University and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, Korea and the University of Maryland at College Park.

Research and Awards:

Presented the paper titled, “Do Sustainability Efforts Improve the Long-Term Survival and Performance of IPOs?” at the Sustainability, Ethics, and Entrepreneurship Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico in March 2017 with colleague Stephen Christophe, Finance.

Presented the paper titled, “All Good Things Must Come to an End: The Temporal Nature of Firm Reputation” at the Academy of Management Annual Conference in Anaheim, California in August 2016 (with coauthors Abbie Oliver and Robert Campbell).

Published an article titled, “Digital Systems and Competitive Responsiveness: The Dynamics of IT Business Value” in Information & Management in 2014 (with coauthors Masoud Yasai-Ardekani and Amitava Dutta).

Presented the paper titled, “The Social Construction of Innovation” at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Vancouver, Canada-British Columbia (with coauthors Abbie Oliver, Robert Campbell, and Michael Pfarrer).

Presented the paper titled, “Antagonist or Portagonist: The Media's Role in Casting the Fate of Innovative Firms” at the Strategic Management Society Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado in 2015 (with coauthors Abbie Oliver, Michael Pfarrer, and Robert Campbell).

Presented the paper titled, “Reconsidering Multimarket Contact and Rivalry: The Effects of Knowledge-Based Resources and Actions” at the Academy of Management Annual Conference in Vancouver, Canada in 2015 (with colleague Matthew Theeke).

Published an article titled, “Digital Systems and Competitive Responsiveness: The Dynamics of IT Value” in Information & Management in 2014 (with colleagues Amit Dutta and Masoud Yasai).
