Currently, Rick Hess serves as the Associate Director for Accreditation and Assessment within George Mason University's School of Business. Rick’s key responsibilities include managing the undergraduate and graduate assurance of learning (AoL) processes, measuring student learning and curricular effectiveness, and providing oversight for all AACSB accreditation requirements and processes. In addition, Rick serves as an adjunct faculty in the Foundations Area of the School of Business where he teaches both BUS 103 and BUS 303.
Previously, Rick worked as the Administrative Specialist for Data Management and Assessment at the University of the District of Columbia as well as an Undergraduate Student Experience Advisor and Assurance of Learning Specialist for AACSB Accreditation within the George Washington University’s School of Business. His previous functions include academic advising, teaching freshman and transfer development courses, co-curricular programming, and assessment analysis.
Rick is currently pursing his PhD in Education with an emphasis in Higher Education from George Mason University. His research areas include assessment and role of data in higher education. Previously, Rick earned an MA from the Ohio State University in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs and his BA from Rutgers University in English.
