Our masters in accounting degree is designed for recent baccalaureate graduates seeking to advance their career potential and also meet the credit requirements necessary to take the Virginia CPA examination.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligble for our MS in Accounting (the full-time, part-time and accelerated programs), you must have a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent from an accredited institution or have completed 24 college credits in accounting.

Applicants who have a business degree, but do not have an accounting degree or equivalent will be provisionally admitted until they have completed the following courses or equivalents with a grade of B- or better: ACCT 531, ACCT 532, ACCT 551 and ACCT 561. The pre-requisites are currently only available in-person, not online. Online students with business degree backgrounds are eligible to take these pre-requisite courses in-person if admitted provisionally to the MS in Accounting program.

Applicants who do not have an accounting degree or business degree will be provisionally admitted until they have completed the following courses or equivalents with a grade of B- or better: ACCT 330, ACCT 531, ACCT 532, ACCT 551 and ACCT 561. The pre-requisites are currently only available in-person, not online. Space Available Rolling basis

After June 1 applications are accepted on a space available basis and decisions are reviewed on a rolling basis. If accepted, applicants will be individually informed of a deposit due deadline.

All materials must be submitted by the application deadline to be considered for that round. If materials are received after the deadline, your application will be considered in the next decision date.
