Bethany Sachtleben, BS Finance ’15, will run for gold on July 27 as she represents Team USA at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru.
Sachtleben, who is currently the track & field volunteer assistant coach for George Mason University, was a standout star during her time as a student. While at Mason, she won four individual Atlantic 10 titles and still holds the outdoor school record in the 10000m run (33:32.53). This month, she will be one of the 96 athletes who wear red, white, and blue for the United States at the quadrennial world meet.
"This is a big deal," head coach Andrew Gerard said. "For a track & field athlete, there are few opportunities to represent the United States on a global stage. It is a huge honor for Bethany to be selected based on her outstanding performances so far this year!"
A total of 6,680 athletes from 41 delegations, across 39 sports and 61 disciplines, are expected to compete at the Pan Am Games.
