Undergraduate Student Intern at GMU Business for a Better World Center

Body

We are looking for an enthusiastic Undergraduate (Senior or Junior) Student Intern with Business as a Major or Minor to join our Business for a Better World Center over the Summer, Fall and Spring Term and provide creative ideas, input and data to help us achieve our goals.

As a Undergraduate Student Intern, you will collaborate with other interns, our Center’s leadership team and School of Business faculty to conduct research, collect data, develop framework, and create insights around Stakeholder Value Index (SVI), a way to measure performance of large businesses across all stakeholders – shareholders, employees, customers, communities, supply base, and the Planet.

This internship will help you acquire business and management skills in key areas of business management and business performance, develop data collection methods and approaches, create workable frameworks to summarize data and provide you with knowledge of various aspects of business performance, beyond pure financial performances.  Ultimately, you will gain knowledge of holistic performance measures that go beyond traditional financial measures and the role and mission of the Center’s work in this space.

  • Research on other measures such as ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) used by institutional investors to align their investment portfolio and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibilities) metrics used by various companies themselves or by consulting companies to help businesses improve their CSR capabilities and find relevance with SVI.
  • Learn ways to present data in a visually compelling manner.
  • Work on the infrastructure of an SVI portal where all data will reside, available data will be analyzed, visually displayed and SVI related scores and indices will be calculated and shared through the portal
