About the organization:   

Headquartered in Washington, DC, SSP is responsible for designing, production, and maintenance of our nation's sea-based nuclear arsenal (Trident Missile).  We ensure all facets of the program are a complete success in order to maintain 70% of the United States' nuclear deterrent.  The Finance  and Resources Branch, manages the total program budget of nearly $4 Billion,  process day to day accounting and financial transactions, produce and adapt  policy and guidance for our branches and field activities, ensure  accountability of all property, perform internal control evaluations and  risk assessments, and respond to financial audit requests from various  entities ( the Secretary of the Navy, Office of the Chief of Naval  Operations, the Naval Audit Service, the DoD Inspector general and the  Independent Public Auditors).

 Position Information:

This is a developmental program that will last for 2 years.  During that period candidates will work full-time and rotate throughout the command and branch to learn different facets of our Financial Management processes.  An accelerated pay raise schedule is possible with up to 10% increases every 6 months. Once the program is successfully completed you will be placed into a full time NH-3 position (GS12/13 equivalent; current pay range $99,200 - $153,354).

This is a permanent, federal government position located at the Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC.  Relocation expenses are not authorized.  Starting salary depends on the selected candidate but starts at $72,703 per year for someone with a 4 year degree and no experience. 

Requirements:

  • Business, Accounting, or Finance related degree (graduation Dec 2023 or May 2024)
  • minimum GPA 3.0
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

  • Ability to apply Accounting, Auditing and/or Financial Principles
  • Ability to think critically on the fly to solve complex problems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with all Microsoft application
  • Intermediate to advanced computer and technology literacy
  • Advanced writing skills
