Events Intern at NVTC

The Northern Virginia Technology Council is looking for business interns for their summer internship program. Come gain experience with one of the nation’s largest technology councils and help serve companies from all sectors of the industry from small businesses and startups to Fortune 100 technology companies, as well as service providers, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies.

Essential Job Functions: 

Event and Program Coordination  

  • Research potential speakers for signature events.  
  • Write and proof descriptions of panels, bios and keynote sessions for website and program.  
  • Compile current versions of sponsor logos.
  • Coordinate with sponsors for the 2025 Techtopia Map.
  • Review event PowerPoint presentations.  
  • Research local companies/contacts to market events, award nominations and NVTC membership.  
  • Research member company event spaces.
  • Maintain sponsorship database. 
  • Maintain sponsorship sales PowerPoint. 
  • Set up, attend, and break down events.
  • Monitor events mailbox and respond as appropriate.  
  • Assist and answer any event registration questions.  
  • Create and update regional calendar.

Event Marketing Coordination 

  • Maintain marketing lists for past attendees and potential award nominees.  
  • Proof and edit event descriptions on the NVTC website.
  • Maintain consistency and approved NVTC style for all event postings on website.  
  • Send social tiles to speakers and sponsors for event promotion.
  • Create a Student Section to be featured in the NVTC Newsletter to include content and design.

Perform other duties, as assigned by role:  

  • Participate in the NVTC Intern Capstone Project.  
  • Assist in name badge creation for events.

Education and Experience Requirements  

  • Enrollment in an accredited bachelor's or master's degree program or high school senior, with a strong interest in Marketing, Hospitality, or other related fields.  
  • Ideal candidates should have relevant business experience.  
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency and the ability to use the complete MS Office suite.  
  • Exhibited desire to learn new concepts/techniques and apply knowledge.
