This past August, the Mu Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity at George Mason University’s School of Business was awarded the prestigious R. Nelson Mitchell Outstanding Chapter award, ranking the George Mason chapter as number one nationwide. The award was presented at the Grand Chapter Congress in Louisville, Kentucky with representatives from more than 450 universities gathering from across the nation.

“Congratulations to the Mu Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi on receiving this prestigious national recognition and representing George Mason's finest future business leaders,” says Jorge Haddock, Dean of George Mason’s School of Business.

Delta Sigma Pi, a professional fraternity for men and women pursuing careers in business, works to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce; and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.

“The success of this diverse group of students reflects on their earnest hard work at the high standard of excellence they have established as tradition,” says Rufaro Mandizvidza, president of the Mu Tau Chapter. “Delta Sigma Pi serves as a valuable platform for its members to learn outside of the classroom while relaying what is learned in the classroom and applying it to the real business world boardroom.”

The business fraternity’s prominent professional activities, commitment to community service, and persistence in upholding a high standard of entrepreneurial ideas in practice has substantially benefited the Mason community, an example being the upcoming Business Fest 2012. Along with the School of Business’s Office of Career Services, Delta Sigma Pi is co-hosting this opportunity for students to network with top professionals in their field.
