On March 28, the George Mason University Alumni Association recognized its most prestigious alumni at an elegant dinner in the Mason Inn Conference Center and Hotel.
Among the honorees was Jerry T. Pierce, MBA '92, who was honored with the School of Business Distinguished Alumni Award.
"It is with great pleasure that we award Jerry with the 2012 School of Business Distinguished Alumni Award," says Jorge Haddock, School of Business dean. "Jerry continually invests his time, energy, and resources back into the business school and we are fortunate to be able to include him as a member of the School of Business family."
A partner in KPMG's federal tax practice, Pierce has more than 30 years of experience with Big Four public accounting. After beginning his career in audit, he moved to tax early in his career and gained his tax experience by serving large, middle market and start-up companies in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
Pierce serves as the lead tax engagement partner for his clients, advising them regarding tax planning strategies, mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and reorganizations, as well as identifying tax exposure areas related to financial statements. His current practice includes various companies ranging from start-ups to large Fortune 500 companies and includes General Dynamics, Danaher Corporation, Global Aviation Holdings (owners of World Airways and North American Airlines), Rosetta Stone, Rolls-Royce North America, USA Mobility Holding, and XO Holdings.
Pierce continually volunteers his time in the community and has actively served on the George Mason School of Business Dean's Council for several years.
