Malcolm manages development, acquisition and advisory services for White Oak Properties LLC, a company he founded in 2000. Among other ventures, White Oak's development and construction management work includes a 90,000 sq. ft. historic office renovation for the American Enterprise Institute, a 270-unit affordable housing complex in Fairfax County and Liberty Park, a high-profile 9-11 memorial in Vienna, Virginia.

As Regional Operations Manager for AvalonBay Communities, Parks supports approximately 20 multi-family communities across the Mid-Atlantic region. His work entails analyzing and monitoring operations systems, training onsite teams, and implementing new corporate technology initiatives, as well as supporting the investments, finance and property operations groups for acquisitions nationwide.

"When I applied to the Mason real estate program, I had about five years of experience in mortgage lending and property management, but my real interests were in finance and real estate investment," says Parks. "I was looking for a way to gain the valuation and analysis skills I needed to advance my career in the development arena."
