Marketing Alumni Honored at the Champions’ Dinner

Ryan Kwiatkowski, a May 2010 graduate with a BS in marketing from the School of Business, was honored on October 2 at the Annual Champions’ Dinner as part of alumni weekend. Sponsored by the Patriot Club, this year’s event was held at the new Mason Inn and featured keynote speaker Lindsay Czarniak, an NBC sports broadcaster.Ryan-Kwiatowski

Kwiatkowski earned the Aimee Willard Award given annually to the Mason student-athlete who exemplifies the qualities Willard demonstrated at Mason:  intensity, consistency of purpose, achievement, and teamwork. Nominees are selected by head coaches and the recipient is chosen by Gail Willard, Aimee’s mother, and the Willard family.

Kwiatkowski was a red-shirt senior volleyball player from Naperville, Illinois. He began his career as a setter, but his last year he switched to the role of opposite hitter. A veteran of more than 85 matches, he finished his career fourth all-time in school history in assists—second in the rally-scoring era.

Kwiatkowski was not able to attend the Champions’ Dinner to receive his award because he is currently playing professional volleyball in Belgium. One of the other nominees for the Willard award was Daniel Palumbo, a Beta Gamma Sigma and “Excellence in Major” Finance graduate in May 2010. Kwiatkowski follows another School of Business alumnus, Scott Krieger, as the Aimee Willard award winner from 2009. Krieger was an outstanding baseball player, chosen as CAA co-player of the year, and graduated with a BS in finance in May 2009. Shane Davis, a BS in marketing senior on the baseball team, was selected by his coach to attend the Champions’ Dinner as well as Aaron Keeton, a senior business minor.
