Rowan Tree is a coworking + cogrowth community focused on women but open to all. We provide a community style coworking space, along with office amenities such as phone booths and conference rooms, and onsite yoga, wellness, and professional and creative growth programming. Our goal? Make it easier for women to work, connect, be well, and create.

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIPS – Summer 2019, Fall Semester 2019, and Spring 2020


This is an unpaid internship, but we are happy to work with you to get class credit. Hours are negotiable based on your school credit needs and availability. Additional value added as this will be a true mentorship opportunity to learn and hone a skill set.

Also, as an intern, you will have a free annual membership to Rowan Tree (valued at $2400). That means you will have in-person access to a brilliant group of (mostly) women who are established as professionals in the DC/NoVA area and knowledgeable across a tremendous variety of careers. You will also work alongside the cofounders and experience the ins and outs of launching a small business. This is a fantastic opportunity for an emerging professional! In addition, you will also get to participate in our onsite yoga, wellness, and professional and creative growth activities.

Remote work is possible, but we do ask that the student is available for some part-time onsite work to receive the most value from the mentorship and community.

Communications & Member Engagement Intern

We are looking for an intern to help us with our communications, outreach, and membership engagement. What does that mean? Your tasks include but aren’t limited to:

  • Newsletters:
    • Create template for standard bi-weekly newsletter
    • Create template for member bi-weekly newsletter
  • Write 2-3 blogs month
  • Create, schedule and publish 4-8 social media posts weekly
    • Coordinate with graphic designers as needed
  • Review Website content
  • Conduct light editing
  • Work with Community + Event Manager to develop and publish promotional write-ups
  • Other TBD – Media relations (media advisories, releases)

Have other ideas? Share them. Evaluate what is going well or not so well and make recommendations for course corrections. As we set up our back-end system, help us create the social platform.

Candidate Requirements: You are studying something related to communications. You have proven experience of great writing and working successfully with a team. You have a track record of showing initiative and getting things done. You can show us some examples of your writing. You like Social Media and can help manage Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Even better, you know how to create engaging posts and can potentially help us create a more coordinated system for posting. Ideally, you’ve helped coordinate some events. You are passionate about helping women be their best selves and reach their full potential. You are flexible, positive, can take direction but also bring ideas to the table.
