MBA Degree Application: Easy as 1, 2, 3
MBA programs are competitive. When you’re ready to start your MBA degree application, you’ll want to put your best foot forward. To do so:
- Carefully review the application requirements
- Submit all requirements before the application deadline (starting your app is not the same as submitting your application)
- Follow up with your MBA contact.
As part of the Mason MBA application process, the review committee looks at MBA degree applications for more than simple grades. They are looking for applicants who will fit within the program and their potential contribution to a collegial learning environment, including their relevant work experience and leadership potential.
Mason MBA Degree Application Requirements
- Online Application
TIP: The application fee is waived for those who attend School of Business Graduate Programs Preview night
- Current résumé
TIP: Be sure to update your résumé with any new work experience or certifications you’ve earned. If you update your résumé early, you can share it with your recommender to reference with their letter of recommendation.
TIP: Request official transcripts from all schools you’ve attended two months before your application is due.
- GMAT or GRE score
TIP: Waivers can be obtained for those who can demonstrate strong background through work experience or academic background.
- One Professional Letter of Recommendation
TIP: Contact your recommender 3 months before the application is due to give them time to complete your recommendation letter. Provide them with your résumé and/or personal statement that they can use as a reference when writing their letter.
- One Goals Statement (no more than 750 word)
TIP: Have someone in your field and a trustworthy friend read over your statement before submitting it.
- Video Introductions (no more than 1 minute)
TIP: Have someone in your field and a trustworthy friend watch your video before finalizing it. Treat this like a job interview. Dress appropriately and tell us what sets you apart.
Mason MBA Program App Timeline
George Mason’s MBA degree application process includes three rounds of applications. Round one is due by November 15, round two is due by February 15 and round three is due by April 1. Enrollment is limited and early applications are encouraged. Qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
According to the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), most prospective graduate business school students spend a year on the application process. GMAC recommends the following timeline for MBA degree applicants:
