Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship Sponsors State of the Market Summit
George Mason University’s Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship (CREE) recently co-sponsored the 2nd Annual Northern Virginia Apartment Summit, hosting more than 100 area development and apartment management professionals for a unique dialog on the state of the multifamily housing market.
“By sponsoring events like this summit, CREE brings hard-core real estate issues to the campus so that the students in our MS in Real Estate Development program can experience real world problems and solutions to balance the theory of class room instruction,” said Program Director Bob Wulff.
• NMHC’s presentation provided a 2014 review and 2015 forecast of the national apartment market
• Delta gave a Northern Virginia review and forecast for the local apartment market.
Afternoon sessions focused on trends in apartment management with breakout sessions on
- strategies for handling legal issues,
- techniques for social marketing and
- design of micro units.
The cross-fertilization between the development and apartment management communities has made the Summit a popular annual event for Northern Virginia real estate professionals, as well as Mason students, says Wulff.
“Co-sponsoring the Summit with the Northern Virginia Apartment Association provides us with valuable insights from the apartment management community. Without their input, this would just be another event with developers talking to each other and that gets old.
“We are looking forward to continuing this conversation at the third annual summit in March, 2016.”
The Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship is the bridge between the real estate industry and the MS in Real Estate Development (MRED) program at George Mason University.
