Career Moves: Recent Graduate Achieves Goal to Work in Affordable Housing
Kevin Wilson graduated from the George Mason Masters in Real Estate Development (MRED) program in May 2017 with a plan to work in the affordable housing industry in his home state of California, long-known for some of the most expensive housing markets in the country.
With the knowledge gained from the MRED program and experience from internships and industry events organized through George Mason’s Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship, Kevin achieved his goal and joined non-profit developer Many Mansions in Thousand Oaks, California as their housing development coordinator.
Many Mansions is a non-profit affordable housing developer and property manager whose mission is to provide safe, well-managed affordable housing with on-site life enriching services for its tenants. Operating since 1979, Many Mansions is the leading provider of affordable housing in Ventura County and owns, operates, and manages 20 multifamily affordable housing complexes. Ventura County is located west of Los Angeles.
Among Kevin’s new responsibilities are participating in assessing the feasibility of new affordable housing projects, preparing funding applications and proposals to various private and public funding agencies related to affordable housing and community development projects, and supporting the closing of pre-development, acquisition, construction, and permanent financing.
