Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce Opens Nominations for Innovator Award Program

New Award Program to Highlight Region’s Entrepreneurial Business Community

The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce (DRCC) announced the Call for Nominations for its annual “Innovator Award Program.” This new award program, created in conjunction with the DRCC’s annual Innovate conference, honors organizations and individuals that embody entrepreneurial and innovative business practices.

The awards are open to any business or individual based in the Northern Virginia region and will be awarded in three categories. The nominations can be downloaded at the Innovate conference website.

Visionary Award

This award recognizes an individual who has had a long career of entrepreneurial and innovative achievements in the Northern Virginia region that place them in the top echelon of their peers. Eligible nominees must describe their most notable business achievement, and have started and built a company (or companies) to major size in the Northern Virginia region in the founder or CEO role.

Velocity Award

This award recognizes companies that are considered the purest of start-ups and personify true entrepreneurial spirit. Eligible nominees must describe organizational challenges, have been in business for no more than five years, earn revenues between $0-$0.5 million range and have less than $5 million in invested capital.

Vanguard Award

This award recognizes companies that have a fully marketable product or service, have earned a degree of market acceptance and acquired a critical mass of customers. Eligible nominees must describe how they have sustained growth, have been in business for more than five years as well as earn revenues and invested capital of greater than $10 million, respectively.

 2013 Innovate Conference

The award winners will be announced at the 2013 Innovate conference, which will be held on October 17, 2013 at the Center for Innovative Technology. The event focuses on building and creating opportunities for attendees through educational presentations, networking and interactions with the region’s business community. The theme of this year’s conference is “Securing Your World: Innovations That Affect Your Life and Business” and will feature keynote speakers, panels and presentations surrounding security.
