Congratulations to Maggie Dyre and Brandon Henrich on Receiving Research Administration Certification
Maggie Dyre, Dean’s Office and Brandon Henrich, Information Systems and Operations Management completed and were awarded Research Administration Certificates in May of this year.
With their newly acquired background, Maggie and Brandon are looking forward to working further with School of Business faculty in partnering, applying and administering awarded research grants.
Maggie and Brandon attended 12 sessions in which included lectures and problem-based learning exercises to receive the Research Administration certificate. Topics spanned the complete grant lifecycle including proposal and proposal budget development, award acceptance, PI reporting and reconciliation, financial compliance and audits, and financial reporting and closeout.
“The certificate courses were very helpful in that they brought the whole process together and depending on what role we have, we may only see a small portion,” Maggie Dyre said. “I am thankful to OSP, as are many other participants, for administering this program because there are several policies related to grants that I would not have even considered to research. I would recommend this to anyone who would like a better understanding and the great part is that you can attend only the course/s you need if you do not plan to complete the certificate,” Dyre continued.
“I enjoyed taking the Research Administration Certificate Program, it gave me a great overall view of grants and contract administration,” said Brandon Henrich. “I enjoyed the hands on approach to some of the classes. I would recommend anyone to take the certificate program that would like to learn a broad overview of what other departments are working with. Many parts were interesting although you may not get the concept unless you use them on a day to day basis, nonetheless it was worth looking at the broad picture,” continued Henrich.
The Office of Sponsored Programs in collaboration with a cross-campus advisory committee and with the help of many across the university developed the program and launched the inaugural class in December.
