Profile:

Jackie Brown came to the School of Business in the fall of 2012. She has 15+ years in higher education and currently teaches our two professional skills courses; she has also taught Business Communication and Advanced Composition. 

Brown has worked in non-profit organizations, legal establishments (law firm and court house), digital consultancies, and universities. She is working toward a PhD in Writing and Rhetoric, with a focus on Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) pedagogy, social and emotional intelligence, and trust within the classroom.

Brown is the area chair for Business Foundations here in the School of Business, and she has held the position for the past five years.

Recipient and principal investigator of the 2018 Provost’s Curriculum Impact Grant for proposal, “Civic Engagement, Critical Thinking, and Experiential Learning through Escape Rooms,” for academic year 2018-2019 (with cofacilitators Cameron Harris, Seth Hudson, and Doug Eyman).

Received the Outstanding Faculty in Business Foundations award from students in the School of Business in 2018 for faculty recognized for outstanding contributions to teaching experience.

Recipient of Pedagogy Innovation Grant from School of Business in June 2017. Participant in two-day workshop, Business Course Re-Design Academy facilitated by Center for Teaching and Faculty Excellence.
