Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce Partnership
In a far-reaching partnership between the the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce and George Mason University, the School of Business and its Center for Government Contracting will work the Chamber to develop degree programs that address regional workforce needs in current and emerging industries. The partners also will co-host events, share office space and connect the region’s leading businesses with Mason faculty and researchers on the university’s campuses across Northern Virginia.
The Center for Government Contracting will also be an active participant in the Chamber's Government Contracting Council. This Council provides engagement with and access to thought leadership in Northern Virginia’s renowned government contracting sector.
The chairs of the Council are:
Dennis Kelly, Executive Chairman, Intrepid Solutions
Jerry McGinn, Executive Director, Center for Government Contracting, School of Business, George Mason University
The Council leads events focused on the GovCon industry:
- Women at the Top of Government Contracting
- Industry Forums
- Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards
The Center for Government Contracting sees a natural fit with the Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum, SECAF. The Center’s Advisory Board finds common interests with SECAF—both groups want to explore best practices for small businesses to grow and prosper in the government contracting community.
Our conversations in building this partnership is off to a great start. SECAF did not hesitate the request by the Center to facilitate and participate in a panel of the Center’s Fall 2019 Government Contracting conference, “Small Business Policy Trends.” Additional co-branded collaborations are under discussion.
