Jerry McGinn quoted in the Washington Business Journal article, "Closed Doors: Small businesses are finding it harder and harder to get vital federal contracting work." From 2011 to 2020, there is a 40% percent decline of small businesses in the Defense industrial base.

 

"Ultimately, the solution comes down to the feds figuring out what kind of culture it wants to foster among smaller contractors," said Jerry McGinn, executive director at the Center for Government Contracting at George Mason University.

“What’s our principal objective? Is it more companies or more business?” McGinn said. “And if we want to do both, we’re going to have to adjust the contract vehicles. That’s kind of the trade-off at the moment.”
