School of Business Alumni Chapter Friend of the Board

Biography

My objective in joining the board is to be a voice for those who have had to overcome daunting obstacles. I have come a long way and experienced many hardships ranging from homelessness as a teen to being hit especially hard by the 2008 financial crisis. Since I was a high school dropout, I chose an industry that didn’t require much secondary education - the oil industry. In 2008, I was laid off for the third time in the oil industry, which is normally a cyclical environment, and I knew it was time for a change. I joined the military as an Infantryman in 2009 and enlisted for six years of active duty service. Following my service, I took advantage of the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill and Vocational Rehabilitation to complete two degrees; one at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and one at George Mason University. Now as a proud Mason alum, I offer a unique perspective on decision making and advocating for the financial welfare of our students.
