Mehta's dissertation focused on understanding the dynamics of electronic auction markets. In addition to his research on electronic auction and retail markets, his current research includes application of data mining techniques for knowledge discovery from time series data. He has applied genetic algorithms for research in financial forecasting and is currently researching the ability to discover patterns for use by network security and intrusion detection systems.
