I commend you on a job well done. You have much to be proud of, and I am honored to celebrate the Class of 2020.
Hold tight to the memories of your time at the School of Business and remember your hard work over the course of your program. Your degree marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another. You have persevered in the face of extraordinary circumstances. Take with you the resilience, strength, and determination gained from your time at Mason to help you overcome future obstacles.
This has been an unprecedented academic year, but so much of life is unexpected. When you look back on this time, recognize that you were presented with one of the greatest learning experiences of the 21st century. Continuing your academic work, and completing your degree, in the midst of this global crisis has provided you with a unique perspective that will serve you well in years to come.
At the School of Business you’ve learned to work hard. To work for the good of others. To be a part of helping to make the world a better place. Continue to think of the greater good throughout your life, and the ways in which the work you do is making a difference. And whenever you can, be the bridge: Connect people from different backgrounds, cultures, opinions and ideas, and help them see the wider context in which we all live.
Congratulations to those receiving Outstanding Graduate Program Awards and Outstanding Undergraduate Major Awards, as well as those undergrads named Excellent in Major. In addition, it is my pleasure to recognize the Faculty of the Year recipients based on your votes.
Please join me in celebrating your success on Friday, May 22 along with University President Anne Holton as we recognize each graduate virtually.
Remember to take pride in your achievements, as we do, and face your future endeavors with the same dedication and hard work as you have done throughout your educational journey thus far.
Congratulations and best wishes,
Dean, School of Business
