Course Description

This course will provide students with an understanding of the audit and assurance requirements for government contracts.  Students will gain knowledge about various audit programs and the associated regulatory guidance providing audit criteria applicable to government contracts and contractors.


Course Objectives

  • To provide students a framework to understand the role that audits play, their purpose, and the value that they provide in the government contracting industry.  
  • To enable students to assess various government contracting obligations in terms of regulatory review criteria while understanding related organizational impacts.

Course Policies

This course will be completed over 8 classes.  Sessions are live on Wednesdays from 7:20 – 10:00pm starting March 18th and ending May 6th. Attendance in each live session is required. Some lectures will feature guest instruction, and all will be delivered online using Goerge Mason University Zoom.  Please refer to the Zoom tab on Canvas for access to each course during the regularly scheduled time. The Zoom Meetings are available to enter the waiting room starting at 7pm and class will begin at 7:20pm. Please plan to show yourselves and participate via video camera.

Grades will be determined by exams, in-class quizzes, group discussions, homework assignments and participation including attendance.

  • B 80-89%
  • C 70-79%
  • F Below 70%
