Course Description
This course focuses on design, planning, and control activities to produce and deliver goods and services in modern organizations. Introduces wide range of operations management decisions, such as operations strategy, process analysis and design, capacity planning, supply chain management, total quality management, and project management. Uses quantitative modeling, case studies, and computer software to analyze and solve operations management problems.
Learning Objectives
The objectives of this course are
- To develop an appreciation and comprehension of the contribution of OSCM to the overall competitive position of an organization.
- To develop a comprehensive understanding of the multi-faceted nature of OCSM. This involves addressing issues in Operations Strategy, Process Management, Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, and Global Operations.
- To develop an analytic perspective regarding OSCM through the use of appropriate techniques to aid operational decision-making.
- To promote an attitude of perpetual constructive evaluation of all operations experienced as a customer and provider.
Approach to Learning
This course is geared for the business professional engaged in decision making or decision support. The emphasis is on business applications; technical discussions are motivated through numerous examples and problkems. The format is mostly lectures presenting content with group exercisres. Discussions and questions are highly encouraged.
