Course VPP 402 – Innovation Under Constraint

Course Description

A creative problem-solving lab for professionals working with limited time, resources, information, or authority. Participants use stakeholder insight, structured creativity, modeling, prototyping, and feedback to move from challenge to testable possibility — reframing complex challenges, generating options, building and testing an early prototype, incorporating stakeholder feedback, and designing a responsible 90-day experiment.

Course Objectives/Key Competencies

By the end of this module, participants will be able to:

• Reframe complex challenges — surface the real problem beneath the presenting symptoms and constraints
• Generate options — apply structured creativity techniques to widen the solution space quickly
• Build and test an early prototype — translate an idea into something tangible enough to evaluate
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback — integrate diverse input without losing momentum or diluting the core idea
• Design a responsible 90-day experiment — leave with a concrete, low-risk plan to test the idea in the real world
