Course VPP 605 — The Human-AI Teaming Lab
Course Description
A responsible-work-design lab for leaders and teams incorporating AI into workflows. Participants clarify human and AI roles, identify where judgment must remain human, design verification points, and examine accountability — mapping a current workflow, distinguishing automation from judgment, defining decision rights and verification points, identifying risks in AI-supported work, and creating a responsible 60-day workflow experiment.
Course Objectives/Key Competencies
For leaders and teams incorporating AI into workflows. Participants clarify human and AI roles, identify where judgment must remain human, design verification points, and examine accountability. Working on a real workflow from their own organization, participants leave having:
- Mapped a Current Workflow: Documented an existing workflow step by step to see exactly where AI is — or could be — involved.
- Distinguished Automation from Judgment: Separated the steps that can be safely automated from the steps that require human judgment.
- Defined Decision Rights & Verification Points: Established who has authority over each decision and where human verification is built into the workflow.
- Identified Risks in AI-Supported Work: Surfaced the technical, operational, and ethical risks that arise when AI takes on part of a workflow.
- Created a 60-Day Workflow Experiment: Designed a time-boxed, responsible experiment to test the new roles, verification points, and safeguards in practice.
Participants also learn how these elements fit together into a single responsible-work-design approach, and how to apply that approach to the next AI-supported workflow their organization takes on.
