​​​​​​​The Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship in the School of Business at George Mason University established the Opportunity Scholarship to support diversity and inclusion in the real estate industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is awarded each fall to one or more incoming first-year master’s in real estate development student(s) from groups underrepresented in the real estate industry and/or those contributing to diversity and inclusion in the real estate industry and George Mason University.

Katharyn White is vice president of Federal Ecosystem at IBM, and co-academic director for the Chief Marketing Officer Program for George Mason University’s Executive Development Program. Recently, we had the opportunity to catch-up with White to learn more about her work with Mason’s Executive Education program and her take on the industry.

This academic year the George Mason University School of Business graduated a total of 1,337 students - 1,106 undergraduates, and 231 graduate students. During his remarks at the School's Degree Celebration on Sunday, May 22, Dean Maury Peiperl commended students for their determination to succeed in this very challenging time.

Graduating with a bachelor of science in information systems and operations management (ISOM) and minors in business analytics and health information technology, Bhagya Nair is the student speaker at this year’s Spring Commencement.

For Margaret Pike, a super senior who transferred to George Mason University School of Business from Northern Virginia Community College with an AS in business administration, taking advantage of the connections she can make at Mason was an opportunity she would not let pass.

Following the tragic shooting on March 16, 2021 in Georgia, Long Chen, associate professor of accounting and president of Association of Chinese American Professors and Scientists (ACAPS) worked together with the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community to prompt change at Mason.

For senior finance major, Tyler Harb, he will be leaving Mason with a supercharged resume full of unique experiences. Harb is a successful international student, president of the Investment Committee for the Montano Student Investment Fund, has held two finance internships and published an independent research project. He will graduate from George Mason University School of Business this May.

At Mason, Student Ambassadors create a link from prospective students to new freshman, answering questions, calming nerves, and sharing lots of advice.

Since starting Mason's MBA program this fall, Guillermo Palencia has been working with the Business for a Better World center on its Honey Bee Initiative (HBI), focusing on a pilot project in rural Colombia and developing a self-sustainable social enterprise model for future funding and expansion in South America and beyond.
