The MSA program offers varied paths to admission:

  1. 1. Traditional

     
    Candidate Profile: Any applicants interested in applying to the MSA program

    Eligibility: Applicants must have at a minimum, a U.S. equivalent bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Completed 27 college credits in accounting.

  2. 2. Bachelor's Accelerated Masters (MSAccel)

    Candidate Profile: Mason undergraduate accounting majors only.

    Eligibility: Must have earned at least 75 semester hours. Students must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Students with accounting grades below a C may apply and may be accepted with approval from the program director.

  3. 3. Accounting Advisory Board

    Candidate ProfileApplicants who had an internship (or have an offer) with one of our Advisory Board organizations.

    Eligibility: Must have had an internship, have an internship offer, and/or are currently employed with one of our Accounting Advisory Board organizations.

  4. 4. Provisional Program

    Candidate Profile: Applicants who have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than accounting.

    Eligibility: A bachelor’s degree in a field other than accounting

  5. 5. Certificates

    Candidate Profile: Outside candidates interested in pursuing an accounting graduate certificate program.

    EligibilityThe MS in Accounting program offers three graduate certificates in:

    • Forensic Accounting - This program is open to individuals holding degrees in any major although degrees in accounting are preferred. Applicants must have at a minimum, a U.S. equivalent bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 
    • Government Accounting - Applicants must have at a minimum, a U.S. equivalent bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Have completed Intermediate Accounting (ACCT 331 or Mason equivalent). 
    • Accounting Analytics - Applicants must have at a minimum, a U.S. equivalent bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Have completed courses in taxation and auditing.
  6. 6. Certificates Pathway

    Candidate Profile: Applicants currently enrolled in one of our accounting graduate certificate programs.

    EligibilityMust be currently enrolled in one of our accounting graduate certificate programs (or have graduated from one of the accounting certificate programs)
