Position Title: Marketing and Communications Intern 
Location: This position will be based out of the Herrity Building in Fairfax, Va and may be required to attend sites and events around Fairfax County. 
Hours: This internship position will run from mid-May through mid-August. 
Salary: $15.87 per hour. 

Overview: The Fairfax County Park Authority Marketing and Communications Division is looking for an aspiring marketing or communication professional who is eager to learn about the day-to-day responsibilities and communication skills involved with supporting the marketing and communication of golf courses, Rec Centers, history, nature, and stewardship. Hands-on career experience and resume building material will be a part of this position. 
 
The internship tasks include but are not limited to copywriting, editing, content creation, photography, event support, graphic design, and data entry. Some weekend event, community outreach work re-quired. Communication/English/Marketing/Event Planning/Public Relations major’s welcome. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Motivated self-starter. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office experience and knowledge. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • The ideal candidate is adaptable and flexible and knows how to set priorities.

  • The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.  The position is also responsible for attending staff meetings and completing County training periodically.
