Biography

Mahmoud Youssef is an adjunct faculty of management information systems within the Information Systems and Operations Management Area in the Costello College of Business at George Mason University. In his academic career, he was an assistant professor of practice at the Rutgers Business School from 2013 to 2016, where he taught several information systems and operations research courses, including Business Analytics and Business Data Management to MBA students and Enterprise Architecture, Operations Management, and Data Mining to undergraduate students. From 2005 to 2010, he was an assistant professor of Information Systems at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, where he taught a broad range of courses in IS and IT and chaired the Department of Business Information Systems from 2007 to 2010. In his early career, he conducted research on Location Privacy, where he applied Semantic Representation and Reasoning as well as Data Mining techniques to protect the location privacy of mobile consumers. Recently, his research interests have shifted to the area of value creation and innovation through technology. He also has an extensive professional career in the IT industry, where he led different technology functions from Infrastructure to Enterprise Applications and Development. He serves as head of IT and Digital transformation at a D.C.-based nonprofit.
